This Year's Women of Style

BY The Editors | August 24, 2017 | Feature National

Fall brings with it a passion for fashion. Here, we spotlight five chic Valley women and their unique views on personal style.

ALLISON DEVANE
The founder of TEASPRESSA—set to open a new location in Phoenix this fall—makes business casual look effortless.

My style icons are... Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O. I never leave the house without... a watch.

My favorite designers are... Tory Burch, Marc Jacobs and Christian Dior.

In Phoenix/Scottsdale, I shop at... Citrine Natural Beauty Bar and Vida Moulin.

My ultimate fashion splurges are... shoes and dresses.

Ultimate trendsetter of today: Sophia Amoruso! Love her modern approach on business casual by pairing different fabrics and pieces together.

I look best in... high-waisted anything. It really brings out my waistline.

Diamonds or pearls? Pearls are my birthstones, so I love to rock those.

Favorite color: Burnt-yellow is definitely my signature color.

To look stylish, in my opinion, all a girl needs is... a good pair of jeans and a solid T-shirt.

JAMIE HERZLINGER
The interior designer and former fashion creative discusses her philosophical approach to fashion.

The best way to describe my approach to fashion is... with no apologies. Sometimes it’s reckless, but in a good way.

The best style advice: It’s exactly what I would tell a fashion client or interiors client: If it doesn’t make you feel joy—if it doesn’t warm you and give you confidence—don’t attempt to wear it.

In terms of wardrobe, I would never... wear florals. I like them in nature, but I don’t think they belong on a person. You’re competing with a pattern—why would you do that?

In regards to jewelry, I opt for... no jewelry at all. I think if you look at politicians and celebrities, lately you’ll see there’s no jewelry. I tend to like a very pared-down, more specific let-the-outfit-talk look.

In Scottsdale, I shop at... To Be Continued.

Fashion icon worth emulating: Diana Vreeland. That mix of feminine meets masculine is very chic to me.

My first fashion moment was... sitting in the front row at a (Christian) Lacroix show. That was insane. I was 21. You had every editor there—everyone
in fashion.

CAMERONE PARKER
The fashion model, philanthropist and unofficial collector of pieces from Project Runway shares her bold style advice.

The best way to describe my approach to fashion is... edgy avant-garde. I delight in raising the bar when it comes to fashion!

My style icon is... Marlene Dietrich.

The most cherished piece in my closet has to be... my 1948 Vintage Haute Couture Dior black lace party dress.

My favorite designers are... Chanel, Gucci, Junya Watanabe, Comme des Garçons, Bert Keeter and Peach Carr.

In Phoenix/Scottsdale, I shop at... Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Fashion by Robert Black.

My ultimate fashion splurge is... my two Hermès crocodile Birkin bags.

Favorite designer of all time: Valentino

The one trend I can’t live without is... a great strong-shouldered, well-fitted smoking jacket with swing trousers...I’m obsessed!

Diamonds or pearls? Both—I combine them together!

Dresses or pants? Love a ballgown; however, a flowy palazzo pant is always a statement-maker.

CHAR HUBBLE
This year’s chairman of the American Heart Association’s annual Heart Ball (Nov. 18) always turns heads at philanthropic events.

My fashion philosophy is... clothes need to fit and flatter your body type.

I never leave the house without... sunglasses.

My favorite designer is... Oday Shakar (he is designing my Heart Ball gown).

In regard to jewelry, I opt for... classics, like Chanel pearls and Cartier bracelets with a few trendy pieces added in.

My secret weapon when it comes to fashion is... Amy from Amy, inc [in Scottsdale]. She styles head-to-toe looks, including accessories, pictures and labels.

When meeting clients and colleagues all day, my favorite style is... a full colorful skirt with a classic fitted knit or button-down blouse tucked in.

Favorite designer of all time: Karl Lagerfeld

My first fashion moment: My aunt bought me a Gucci purse on Rodeo Drive when I was 13.

I look best in... tailored clothes.

Bags: big or small? Small, but big enough for a cellphone and sunglasses

Dress by Tenby; shoes by Christian Louboutin; hair by Leah Joy LeBlanc of Hello Hair

KIRIN CHRISTIANSON
This Scottsdale fashionista wears many hats—former Mrs. Arizona, retired FORD/Robert Black model, co-owner of Integrative Health and beauty blogger for Red Haute Mama—but when it comes to style, she is all about vintage.

The best way to describe my approach to fashion is... feminine, classic and head-turning.

My style icon is... Edith Head—she dressed everyone from Grace Kelly to Audrey Hepburn. Her style was impeccable.

The worst fashion ‘rule’ you have ever heard: ‘Never wear red because you are a redhead.’ It was years later that I learned to break that piece of advice—I rock red!

In regards to jewelry, I opt for... Kendra Scott earrings for daytime, and custom Stefanie Somers red-carpet chandeliers for special events. I seldom wear anything except earrings.

I never leave the house without... lipstick and tinted BB cream.

In [Scottsdale], I shop at... Fashion by Robert Black for the prettiest vintage pieces.

My ultimate fashion splurge is... the 12-pound fully beaded evening gown I wore competing in Mrs. America.

Ultimate trendsetter of today: Kate Middleton

Dress is a vintage 1950s chiffon from Fashion by Robert Black; earrings are custom-made by Stefanie Somers
