Long-time Ye (formerly Kanye West) fans know that—before the rapper, producer, artist and designer became one of the most famous, well-paid and controversial MCs of all time—he did indeed work at The Gap.
Now, the star’s “Spaceship” story comes full circle, as his latest line of Yeezy looks, “engineered” by none other than Balenciaga, comes to Gap shelves in select stores across the country.

This is not the first time Ye has sold clothes with The Gap. Indeed, he’s agreed to a 10-year contract with the retailer, having already sold puffy jackets and other apparel to hugely successful heights.
This is, however, the first time you can get your hands on his Yeezy x Balenciaga collab in a physical setting.
Officially titled Yeezy Gap Engineered By Balenciaga, the collection debuted in late May with a sleek selection of tees, hoodies, jogging pants, outerwear and caps; all served in the dark and minimal hues of Balenciaga’s style, with the striking silhouettes that have become Yeezy’s signature.
With its eyes to the future, the line is meant to be utilitarian in design, the sort of looks one might wear in a not-so-distant dystopian reality. Tying into this sci-fi, techno-obsessed outlook, the collection was paired with a series of digital avatars, rather than real-life models, and those avatars soon came to life in an online video game.
Now, the Yeezy Gap Engineered By Balenciaga clothes will be made available in revamped retail locations across the country, including locations in California, New York, Florida, Texas and Illinois near Ye’s native Chicago; but also Connecticut, Arizona and other states.
Much like the clothes themselves, the stores have been redesigned to be as minimal as possible, mirroring the darker tones of the collection. The new face lifts are meant to create as little waste as possible, as well.
