Sassi To House Farmer In The House Dinner Series

| April 17, 2015 | Calendar

In celebration of Earth Day, SASSI teams up with Duncan Trading Company for their “Farmer In The House” dinner series on Wednesday April 22nd starting at 6pm. Hosted by Executive Chef Chris Nicosia and Gentleman Farmer Pat Duncan, this will be an evening filled with cuisines prepared from the finest ingredients that Duncan’s boutique sustainable farm has to offer. This event will showcase the farm to table mentality that has made SASSI a fixture in the Scottsdale dining community. Though the menu is not fully vegetarian, this is an evening where the delicate flavors of the best local fruit and vegetables are made to shine, with simple yet skillful preparation by Chef Chris Nicosia and unique wines hand selected by SASSI’s award-winning sommelier.

For starters, guests will celebrate spring the way they do in Italy with delicate Squash Blossoms filled with buffalo mozzarella and herb stuffing, radish salad and a delightful lemon-anchovy dressing. Then, the seafood course presents savory Natasha Escarole and Beans with Manila clams and our special SASSI sausage, hand made and cased with care. Be sure to bring your appetites, as the offerings will grow richer in flavor as the evening goes on.

The pasta course will include a signature SASSI piatti fusing Duncan’s fresh picks with a traditional Borage Raviolo with a smooth and creamy duck egg yolk paired with ricotta, parmigiano and garnished with borage flowers. The main course of the evening offers tender Braised Veal Cheeks with caramelized Hakurei turnips, fresh morels, baby Lincoln leeks and chewy baby fennel. The best of the farm is even showcased in the dessert course with an Italian interpretation of carrot cake, a rich Budino with spiced carrot custard, cream cheese panna cotta, caramel sauce and toasty amaretti. Since the evening is farm-to-table in the truest sense, this menu is subject to change based on what is harvested from the farm on April 22.

A portion of the evening's proceeds will be donated to the Association of Arizona Food Banks, so that we might assist in feeding hungry, less fortunate Arizonans.

The Farmer in the House dinner at SASSI is priced at $110 per person inclusive of tax and service charge. Reservations are limited and must be made online by visiting www.sassi.biz. Menu is subject to change due to item availability. More information about the SASSI 2015 Farmer In The House event can be found at https://www.sassi.biz or by calling (480) 502-9095.
