The atmosphere at Santé is like no other at this hip new eatery in the Scottsdale Quarter. PHOTO COURTESY OF SANTÉ
New to town, Santé is for those who value an elevated dining experience and minimized carbon emissions. On the surface, Santé is a hip new eatery with scenery that co-owner Nicole “Nico’’ Donielle describes as reminiscent of “1940s Hollywood Regency meets Tulum chic.” Dig a bit deeper, and you’ll come to discover that this new restaurant is deeply rooted in sustainability and is, in fact, inspired by nature and wellness every step of the way. Holding true to Donielle’s motto, “Let us live to eat and live longer to eat,” the menu is stacked with internationally inspired dishes that are all organic, and includes options for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, keto and a number of other dietary restrictions. Popular meals include the raw vegan lasagna with cashew ricotta and grass-fed bison tenderloin filet, but don’t forget to check out its coffee and tea program at its “grab and gourmet” market. Before they are artfully prepared into delectable dishes, the ingredients are ethically sourced with focus on sustainability, such as ranches that are carbon negative or carbon neutral. They even compost. 15507 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale, lovesante.com
Homemade pizzas and more flare vibrantly over a wood-fire oven at etta. COURTESY OF ETTA SCOTTSDALE
Warm and welcoming, etta is a cozy home away from home, but this home has cuisine pioneered by a Michelin-starred chef. The newest expedition of accomplished chef Danny Grant, known for the What If Syndicate hospitality group and Scottsdale’s own Maple & Ash steakhouse, etta’s name may be lowercase, but its food is delish with a capital D. Start with the focaccia, fire-baked with rich ricotta, truffle and honey, and the bubbling shrimp with chiltepin chile, ginger and mint. Revel in the appetizer course while watching the next course’s preparation in the open-concept kitchen that stands out as the focal point of the restaurant venue, visible from every table. Homemade pizzas flair vibrantly over a wood-fire oven; homemade pastas take shape; and colorful salads are tossed to create an interactive dining experience. The intimate Scottsdale Quarter environment is furthered by whitewashed brick and a flair of greenery that uphold etta’s dining rooms and two patios as the perfect place to settle in to enjoy the “etta”rita or its signature Pórron & Polaroid experience, where guests drink from a communal Spanish wine pitcher and the moment is captured with a Polaroid keepsake. 15059 N. Seafood lovers anticipate the opening of Buck &Rider in North Scottsdale. PHOTO BY GRACE STUFKOSKY PHOTOGRAPHY
Arizona has much to offer, but certainly not the ocean. That’s why Buck &Rider flies in fresh fish daily. Opening this fall, its North Scottsdale location at the southeast corner of Scottsdale Road and Mayo Boulevard in The Shops at Chauncey Ranch is eagerly anticipated to become an instant hot spot for seafood lovers. Ingredients for tasty menu options, including fresh oysters and handrolled sushi, are sourced directly from farmers and fishermen on the East, West and Gulf coasts, and the menu changes regularly to reflect seasonal findings. Spend a happy hour by the indoor and outdoor patio bars savoring signature cocktails and smaller fare like ahi tuna crispy rice, or opt for flavorful brunch (with live music), lunch or dinner entrees like pan-seared Maine scallops and blue crabcakes with a mustard sauce. Landlubbers, have no fear. Non-seafood alternatives on the menu are equally delicious, including Buck &Rider’s must-try steak program featuring LGO Reserve beef that is the first private label in the state to be certified by the USDA. “Our goal has always been to bring the freshest seafood possible to Phoenix, and now Scottsdale,” says Emily Collins, vice president of growth and development at LGO Hospitality. “Opening an authentic Buck &Rider location in this area gives us the ability to share our vitality, vim and vigor with the local community.” buckandrider.com
A tasty menu at Ingo’s Tasty Food comes to North Scottsdale. BY GRACE STUFKOSKY PHOTOGRAPHY
At long last, Ingo’s Tasty Food is coming to North Scottsdale, located adjacent to the new Buck &Rider. With two Phoenix locations already under its belt, Ingo’s is slated to open its newest location this fall, expanding its effortlessly cool menu and ambiance. From the food to the atmosphere, Ingo’s combines the simplicity of a diner with an upscale dining experience to ignite a welcoming sense of nostalgia. It’s not open quite yet, though, meaning these next few months will be spent looking forward to a look back. It’s yet to be seen if Ingo’s domestic, grass-fed beef burgers will become as big of a hit as they have at its other locations. One burger on the menu, the Farmer’s Daughter with dijonaise, baby Swiss and sauerkraut, has become something like a cult classic for Ingo’s Phoenix faithful, and it’s soon to be Scottsdale’s turn to endorse this specialty. Enjoy the burger with a side of fresh shattered potato chips with homemade lacto-fermented hot sauce or a made-to-order fresh salad. Dig in on the eatery’s patio or order to go with convenient curbside pickup. “We look forward to our guests coming in for breakfast,” says Collins, “and popping back in for lunch, afternoon beverage, happy hour or dinner.” ingostastyfood.com
