When did you first become interested in health and wellness, and how did that interest evolve into a career? I was raised in a family of physicians, where health and wellness were priorities, as well as giving back to the community. After seeing the passion my mother and grandfather had for psychiatry, I started to explore a career in medicine. I pursued a six-year BA/MD program at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine. Throughout medical school, I still felt a pull toward psychiatry… so, after graduation, I matched to an adult residency training program in Phoenix, which is how I landed in Arizona.
What inspired you to open your clinic? During my psychiatry residency and fellowship training, I was working in insurance-based community clinics, where follow-up appointments were often scheduled in 15- to 20-minute intervals. Under the insurance-based model, the expectation was shorter appointment times, and this was often not meeting the needs of the patient. This led me to start thinking about opening a practice in which time was not a barrier to providing a high level of mental healthcare.
What can our readers expect at Choulet Wellness? Our clients will find an upscale and modern spalike office setting. We have a total of seven offices, one treatment room and a few lounge areas for clients and parents to relax. We offer a variety of services encompassing mental and physical wellness, including psychiatric care, therapy, microneedling, brow and lash care, and Botox and fillers. We strive to provide a high level of individualized services to our local community.

What do you love most about what you do? I truly enjoy guiding my clients toward maximizing their personal and professional growth. It is so rewarding to work with adults and adolescents to identify patterns of behavior and improve the family dynamics. I am also passionate about providing care that is not restricted by time constraints imposed by insurance companies.
How do you see your business evolving over time? I hope to expand the consulting side of my business, as I love helping other physicians and clinicians start their own private practices. It would be great to establish other locations for Choulet Wellness in a variety of cities and states. My hope is to expand this model of care where patients can collaborate with the physician and have the option for longer visit times to ensure that all concerns are addressed.
