Bringing rustic, Western-style furnishings and accessories made from buffalo hide to Scottsdale for over a decade, the dynamic duo behind Buffalo Collection (buffalocollection.com) recently opened a new boutique in Old Town Scottsdale.
With Michael’s vast knowledge of fine art and art history and Laura’s great eye for interior design and style, those who’ve had the pleasure of meeting the Levenbergs know that along with extensive product knowledge and top-notch customer service, this couple has a very warm, sincere way of working with their clients. “We have developed friendships over the years with many of our clients and they always come back year after year, bringing in their friends and family,” says Laura. Here, they share what makes their partnership and pieces a real treasure.

What do you like most about working with each other? LL: We both love what we do so that works to make it a success! We love working with our clients to bring their visions and dreams to life, creating beauty and authentic comfort to their home space.
Tell us about the new store? ML: Our Buffalo Boutique is a natural progression evolving with buffalo leather, from fine home furnishings to smaller items for the home and personal use. It’s a great place to house accessories such as buffalo leather handbags, journals, wallets and jewelry, plus glassware, luggage, custom leather clothing and gifts. A new line being featured is stunning jewelry designed and hand-carved from bison horn.

What is unique about Buffalo Collection furniture? ML: Buffalo Collection furniture is unique as it is handcrafted in America, made to order of heirloom quality, built for comfort and luxury. Finished and upholstered with premium buffalo leather and tanned/ dyed all the way through, it will not crack, chip or peel. Each Buffalo Collection piece is carefully custom crafted with great attention to detail. Clients can choose from over 50 colors of our buffalo leather, stitching options as well as hand-braiding details and nailhead placement, wood stain color and seat cushioning, which is adjusted per preference of how firm or soft they would like their furniture to sit. Tell us about the unique tables crafted. LL: We have close personal relationships with all of our artists and woodworkers, visiting their workshops and studios during the summer months, primarily, so everything has a real story. Each specializes in a different design aesthetic, from live-edge rustic to midcentury modern, utilizing a variety of wood species. Many people can work with wood; not everyone is a master in the finishing technique, which our craftspeople fit that bill. We showcase unique coffee tables, accent and end tables, also sofa or entryway tables and consoles, as well as night tables and stunning dining tables. Any of the tables on display in our showroom can be customized to a client’s exact specifications.
