Over the past 10 years practicing plastic surgery in the Valley, Dr. Richard J. Brown has seen it all when it comes to surgeries gone wrong. Inspired to write his first book, The Real Beauty Bible, Navigating Your Journey Through Plastic Surgery ($25, Advantage Media Group)—which was published this summer—he says, “I wanted to write a book that anyone could pick up and read cover-to-cover fast and feel like, when they were done, they pretty much knew every single thing they need to consider before having a procedure.” We asked Brown to share some of his favorite hot spots in the Valley.
JEWEL TONES Brown likes shopping at JN Jewels (23623 N. Scottsdale Road) not only for the selection, but also the experience. “Jacqueline Nerguizian is the owner,” he says, “and she makes jewelry for Hollywood’s top A-list players. She is kind, talented and luxury at its best.”
SPA DAY When in need of some R&R, Brown turns to none other than Joya Spa (4949 E Lincoln Drive). “This place is an experience from the moment you walk in,” he says.
DINNER WITH A VIEW To soak in his desert surroundings, the epicurean opts for elements (5700 E. McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley, sanctuaryoncamelback.com). “I love the scenic views and the food does not disappoint,” he says.
ROCK STAR For some fresh air, Brown heads to Whisper Rock Golf Club (32002 N. Old Bridge Road, Scottsdale), which he calls “a golfer’s dream in Arizona.”
HIGH STEAKS This steak lover swears by Mastro’s City Hall (6991 E. Camelback Road). “Of course, the seafood is also amazing and the setting is classic,” he says.
