As busy parents to an energetic 2-year-old, Danielle and Taylor Pyatt searched high and low for a coffee shop that their whole family could enjoy. When they couldn’t find one, they decided to open their own cafe. Thus, Café Au Plait was born. For former NHL player Taylor Pyatt (of the Arizona Coyotes), this marks his first venture in the coffee industry. Also a first-time cafe owner, Danielle has a culinary background and is a graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City.

“We are loving all there is to learn,” Taylor says.

Opened early last October, Café Au Plait is akin to something you would find in Paris.

“Our design and inspiration for the cafe was a mix between French bistro and a whimsical children’s book,” says Danielle. “Our goal was to create a clean, open bright space for both adults and children to enjoy.”

Perhaps the most unique element of the cafe is the play space—designed specifically with children from 6 months old to 6 years old in mind. For a small fee ($5 per child), the space is available for customers’ children to play in for an unlimited amount of time. Café Au Plait also offers the option of renting out the entire cafe for private events—perfect for children’s parties, mom’s groups and baby showers.

Although it was certainly designed with families in mind, “we are a true coffee shop with classic espresso drinks, gourmet drip coffee, cold brew and nitro brew,” says Danielle. “Café Au Plait is a coffee shop for everyone.” 10405 E. McDowell Mountain Ranch Road, Ste. 100, Scottsdale
