Outstanding Achievement

| June 19, 2015 | Parties

On June 12, a mixture of tears and cheers brought donors, candidates, doctors and survivors together at Talking Stick Resort & Casino for the Grand Finale of the Arizona Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Man & Woman of the Year campaign.

For the past 10 weeks, 15 Valley leaders committed to raising funds for cancer research in honor of two local children and cancer survivors who were named Boy & Girl of the Year.

Former Phoenix mayoral candidate Wes Gullett and former ‘Bachelor’ reality star contestant Kat Hurd earned the titles of Man & Woman of the Year, respectively, for their impressive fundraising efforts. Each dollar raised over the course of the 10-week campaign counted as a vote and Gullett, Hurd and their campaign teams combined to raise more than $209,000. The combined effort all of the candidates raised a record-breaking $574,122. -Photos courtesy of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
