Mercedes-Maybach looks back on a century of automotive excellence—and unveils a thrilling all-electric concept car with a dramatic eye for the future.
The recently unveiled Concept Mercedes-Maybach EQS.
After 100 years of crafting automobiles that have raised the pinnacle of luxury and innovation ever higher, you could hardly blame Mercedes-Maybach for taking a moment to bask in some well-deserved nostalgia and reflect on how far the brand has come.
The roomy interior boasts executive rear seats ideal for work or rest.
Not a chance. Instead, the storied German brand is honoring that landmark milestone the only way it knows how: by keeping its vision firmly on the future and zipping ahead of the pack once more with its latest reveal, the Concept Mercedes-Maybach EQS, the brand’s first fully electric series model.
Maybach’s first production car, the 1921 W3.
Estimated to be in production for 2023, the ultraluxe SUV boasts characteristic Maybach flair, including the signature two-tone paint finish (here in black metallic and zircon red metallic), while taking the brand into its next century with a tech-forward suite of features, from state-of-the-art electric drive technology and a cutting-edge MBUX Hyperscreen infotainment system to a driver’s door that opens as you approach (take that, James Bond). All told, it’s a strong indication that Mercedes-Maybach’s next 100 years could be even more thrilling than its first.
