Katy Perry is taking the meaning of bubbly to a whole new level.
The popstar, long known for her animated personality, has teamed up with Amass Botanics co-founder and master distiller Morgan McLachlan to launch Drink De Soi, a line of sparkling nonalcoholic apéritifs.
“We teamed up to make a more considered choice for happy hour,” McLachlan said in an Instagram post attributed to herself and Perry.
Instead of following in line with the many celebrity-back tequilas, Perry is forging ahead in the increasingly popular spirit alternative market.
“Ding Ding! Just in time for Soberuary! I am very excited to announce Drink De Soi,” Perry wrote on Instagram. “Our apéritifs are full of feel-good adaptogens like maca and reishi mushroom for a drink that helps you create, relax and ease into the night.”
Popularized by the French, the bittersweet botanical beverage is intended for sipping slowly before dinner. And in the case of De Soi, the apéritifs swap natural adaptogens (like ashwagandha) for the usual booze to be able to still offer the stress-soothing effect sought from any craft cocktail.
“As creative professionals and busy moms with a shared love for a spritz, we wanted a drink that was bubbly and delicious, but that didn’t get in the way of early mornings and long nights,” McLachlan added. “A drink that was truly fun to sip on, and still allowed us to feel present and engaged while taking the lead. A drink that married our passion for plants and better-for-you ingredients with big, bold flavor and feel-good adaptogens.”
De Soi comes in three flavors: Golden Hour (Citrus and lemongrass), Champignon Dreams (strawberries and grapefruit) and Purple Lune (blackberry nectar, vanilla oak and rose petals). You can opt for a bottle for sharing or stick to just a can for yourself— each of which come in flower child-approved designs and colors.
“We created De Soi, a range of non-alcoholic apéritifs, as a way to find pleasure without the proof,” McLachlan’s post further explained. “It’s an apéritif made for moments you don't want to forget, whether you’re laughing with friends over dinner or indulging in a solo toast to yourself. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.”
