Although he grew up locally in Paradise Valley and lives and works in the Scottsdale area now, interior designer Matthew Boland of MMB Studio Inc. (mmbstudio.com) has lived all over, from the East Coast to the Northwest. This, along with a slew of other sources, plays into his inspiration and richly layered design style. “I always loved interiors and I started interning for design studios when I received my driver’s license,” says Boland. “I always felt that it was my calling.” While Boland has his own sensibilities, his project plans are ultimately determined by his clients. “I always approach design through the eye and mind of the client,” he shares. “They are my muses, and the only way that I can do my job correctly is to get inside of their world and their brain.” Boland is keeping busy with a variety of projects across the U.S., including ones in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Beverly Hills, Palm Beach, Sag Harbor, Manhattan and more. While his work is consistent, one thing that keeps Boland inspired and excited is the prospect of change. “Each day, week and month is ever-changing,” he says. “The horizon is where the sun comes up and goes down, and I look forward to both each day of the year. I am very thankful to do the work that I do with the people that I do it with.” Here, Boland shares the stylish selects in his well-designed world.

“You wash your hands all day long and scent is such an important complement to your day. I never tire of Niven Morgan Gold.”
“I love the work of Chris Wolston. He is tongue in cheek and always chic. He mostly works in aluminum, which I love, because when entertaining, anyone should be able to set their drink down anywhere.”
