An elegant five-course meal under the stars surrounded by the gorgeous flora of Desert Botanical Garden made for a rather, shall we say, succulent evening.
THE PARTY The 30th annual Dinner on the Desert brought more than 625 business leaders, philanthropists and Valley elite to the DBG for a night of fundraising and unforgettable experiences.
THE GUESTS Mary Heiss and Harold Dorenbecher chaired the evening, which netted $450,000 in funds for the garden.
THE HIGHLIGHTS Guests were greeted with signature drinks as they soaked up stunning views of the Papago Buttes and the garden’s displays of sculptures, succulents and cacti. The night officially kicked off at Dorrance Hall with a silent auction, where bidders competed at winning gorgeous plants and artwork before heading into the main event. Hors d’oeuvres and an elegant dinner catered by Fabulous Food Fine Catering awaited them amid the twinkling lights and fiber-optic exhibits of Bruce Munro: Sonoran Light. Live performances abounded, including one by a dancer clad in paint against an abstract piece of artwork. Later, a performer dressed entirely in black and decked in LED lights mingled with guests. It was a night that was at once formal and floral. –Lauren Swanson; photography by Haute Photography
