The Party
The sartorially gifted set looks forward to Phoenix Fashion Week every year, and the 2014 edition certainly delivered. Per tradition, the Fashionably Pink runway show kicked things off at Schumacher Mercedes-Benz in support of nonprofit Don’t Be a Chump! Check for a Lump! (checkforalump.org), which educates the community and provides wigs to women who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy. Local personalities walked the runway alongside breast cancer survivors in pink-inspired ensembles while guests made donations to show their support. The four-day fashion week culminated at Talking Stick Resort at Saturday evening’s Luxury Night, for which Modern Luxury Scottsdale magazine was the exclusive publication partner, where the lineups of emerging and established designers alike blew the crowd away.

The People
Local celebrities such as Rich Berra, Susan Casper, Yetta Gibson, Terri Ouellette and Javier Soto, among others, walked the runway alongside breast cancer survivors at Fashionably Pink. On Saturday night, however, it was Scottsdale magazine’s guests who were front and center, with the option of catching all the catwalk action from seats close to the catwalk or from a comfortable private cabana. VIPs who turned out to celebrate in fashion with the magazine included Tristan Charlesworth, Irma Deihl, Oscar De las salas and Gary Jackson, Nicki Escudero, Micheline Etkin, Valeria Martinez and Nisim Estrada, Venessa Kaufman, Nora Lindquist, Eric and Tatum Luoma, Jaclyn Meads, Mia Parrett, Mika Perry and Kinsey Schofield.

The Scene

Emerging designers Adoire by Saba, Hues of Ego, Jacqueline Nicole, Lillienne Lang and Rayan, and established designer Yen made jaws drop and smartphone cameras snap at high speed, thanks to their embellished gowns and other luxe looks. Jewelry and accessories by Clutch Jewelry, Tom Horn, Olga M. Designs, Possibility and Verbena Designs also turned heads. But it was the wildly creative collection from Filipino designer Rocky Gathercole (who was present that evening—surprise!) that took the art of fashion in Phoenix to new heights. And at night’s end, Misha Mendocino, whose breezy, California-cool dresses and coverups went down the runway on the second night, was named Emerging Designer of the Year! -Photos by Haute Photography; Luxury Night Photos by Jon Simpson
