Fiji’s Nanuku Resort celebrates the skies with the launch of a new astrotourism program.

At Nanuku, the night sky makes for seriously stunning stargazing.

One of the most luxurious hospitality destinations in the South Pacific, Nanuku Resort is a lush, 500-acre Fijian oasis that beckons with clear turquoise waters and breathtaking vistas of the island’s tropical terrain. By day, the resort buzzes as honeymooners, families and jet-setters indulge in spa treatments and sumptuous dining; experience Fijian culture; and venture out on snorkeling, diving and whitewater rafting expeditions. After dark, Nanuku’s offerings are just as robust—especially now, as the five-star resort has just unveiled its new astrotourism program.

Spa treatments are available in a tranquil treetop setting.

Having officially launched in late October with Journey to the Stars, a 10-day collab with NASA featuring day and night star parties, astronomer talks and more, the program continues with a series of ongoing wellness activities that aim to help guests connect with the energy of the moon. Among the astronomical offerings: stargazing experiences led by an on-site Celestial Concierge; boat excursions to a private island to learn how Fijians navigated using the night stars; use of a sophisticated Dobsonian telescope (a gift from NASA) for observing planets and deep sky objects like nebulae and galaxies; and even a lunar wellness experience featuring a full-body evening moon massage and guided moon water meditation, which aims to harness the moon’s power for cleansing, renewal and intention setting.

Resort guests can experience Fijian rituals—like the traditional kava ceremony—on-site.

It all adds up to some seriously out-of-this-world offerings, and makes for another reason to visit this pocket of paradise in the South Pacific. “Nanuku Resort’s location on a 500-acre private estate, on a southern peninsula, means that there is little to no light pollution in our area, allowing for ideal viewing of the Pacific night sky,” says Nanuku general manager Logan Miller of why the program is a perfect fit for the property. “In addition, the legends of navigators and explorers connecting Fiji’s past and present through storytelling are a uniquely Fijian experience.”
