Arizona Musicfest kicks off its second quarter century presenting wide-ranging musical artists with the first-ever Fall Fest, a four-concert schedule featuring Melissa Manchester, Musicfest competition and scholarship winners, two of America’s hottest bluegrass bands and The Midtown Men: The Original Cast of Broadway’s Jersey’s Boys, from Oct. 28 through Nov. 7 in Scottsdale.
Featuring The Lonely Heartstring Band & Mipso
Two of the genre’s hottest bands come to Arizona Musicfest for a double-bill of bluegrass. Combining soulful virtuosity with soaring three-part harmonies, The Lonely Heartstring Band, 2015 International Bluegrass Music Association “Momentum Award” winners, are “in a class by themselves” (Tony Trischka, banjo legend). “Renegade traditionalists” Mipso, take four-part harmony and Appalachian influences into new territory with their imaginative songwriting, sharp lyrics, and rhythmically powerful sound. With #1 Billboard Bluegrass Chart recordings and “Best Record of the Year” praise for their “lush and moving songs” (The Guardian), Mipso features an intoxicating, distinctly unique blend of modern day Americana.
