Celebrate the True Mexican Independence Day at SumoMaya

| September 12, 2014 | Calendar

SumoMaya, the Valley’s premier destination for Mexican-Asian cuisine is setting the record straight this September. Cinco de Mayo may be a fun night to throw back a few tequilas or cervezas, but the true Mexican Independence Day is on September 16.

To that end, SumoMaya is throwing the largest Mexican Independence Day Bash in town. They’ve joined forces with Casamigos Tequila for a memorable evening of food and fun. Casamigos is owned by Arizona native Mike Meldman, Rande Gerber and George Clooney. Yes, that George Clooney (no word if he’ll make the party, but one never knows!)

Time: All Day Social Hour, Dinner Special served 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

The centerpiece of this festive celebration is a $49/pp four-course dinner with Casamigos Tequila pairings:

First course:
Miso Lime Sea bass ceviche
Paired with Casamigos Blanco Margarita

Second course:
Chinese style Chili-Crab Garlic noodles
Paired with Casamigos Reposado Tequila

Third course:
Pacifico marinated Carne Asada with Anejo marinated red onion
Or
Adobo marinated Mahi Mahi Veracruz with Casamigo Anejo.
Paired with Casamigos Anejo Tequila

Fourth course:
Tres leches, a traditional cake.

A mariachi band will be on hand to get the fiesta going, and will play from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m.

In addition to the special menu, SumoMaya will offer an all-day social hour featuring $5 Casamigos Margaritas and Casamigos Sumo-ritas and $7 reposados “burros.” Look for complimentary butler-passed hors d-oeurves to nosh on. Reservations are recommended but not required.
