Best Margaritas in the Valley

Whether it’s Cinco de Mayo or simply Margarita Monday, there’s never a bad time to enjoy a fresh take on this beloved lime classic.

1. Modern Margarita
From more traditional flavors, such as the “OG” rita, to eclectic flavors — like “hot mango” (mango puree and jalapeno agave) and “up in smoke” (made with barrel-smoked maple syrup) — Modern Margarita’s inventive interpretations of the classic cocktail live up to its namesake. 5410 E. High St., Phoenix, 602.795.8111

2. Cien Agaves
With each drink made from fresh-pressed limes and housemade simple syrup, there’s no wonder why Cien Agaves is known for its margs. While we may love the avocado margarita, which pairs two of the best culinary components of Mexican cuisine (avocados and margaritas, duh) together in holy matrimony, at long last, there are plenty of other options to choose from. And, if you really love margaritas, there’s even a whopping 56-ounce one (“The Gigante”) with your name on it. 7228 E. 1st Ave., Scottsdale, 480.970.9002

3. Blanco Tacos + Tequila
Part of the Fox Restaurant Concepts family, this taco-and-tequileria has won a special place in our heart for the fresh and fruity margarita menu. Flavors-of-note: blood orange, mixed berry, pomegranate/grapefruit and white peach and hibiscus. 4455 E. Camelback Road, Ste. B100, Phoenix, 480.905.6920

4. The Mission
When the tequila selection is this extensive, you know the margaritas are going to be good. You can’t go wrong with the signature marg, “The Mission," made with Corrido añejo tequila, pressed lime, OJ, agave nectar and creamy egg whites. 3815 N. Brown Ave., Scottsdale, 480.636.5005

5. Diego Pops
Located in Old Town, this fun and modern resto is known for its reimagined interpretations of classic Mexican cuisine. Perhaps the best example of this is none other than the snowcone margaritas, a grown-up version of one of America’s favorite childhood treats. Our favorite flavor? “Mango elderflower” — a colorful combination of Don Julio Blanco, St. Germain, Triple Sec and mango with a housemade sweet and sour chili spice rim. 4338 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale, 480.970.1007
