Grab a deliciously boozy beverage at one of Scottsdale's chicest cocktail bars.
The sandstone-inspired bar at Onyx Bar & Lounge.
This trendy hot spot has been nestled in Old Town Scottsdale for the last 35 years, and for good reason. Sip a refreshing concoction like the Berry Bramble or Mezcalito while perusing the space’s rotating art exhibitions. For an extra luxe experience, order the $1000 Kings Ransom crafted with LOUIS XIII cognac, lemon juice, superfine sugar and Cointreau.
Every server at Cafe Monarch is sommelier-trained to ensure each course is completed with the ultimate wine pairing. Prefer something a little stronger? The Sonoran Sunset, a tart gimlet-inspired cocktail, is prepared with Awayuki strawberry gin, Fico D’India prickly pear, basil and lime.
Head to downtown Scottsdale for happy hour at Citizen Public House, where expert bartenders sling creative cocktails like The ’Ol Razzle Dazzle (tequila blanco, tamarindo syrup, lime, raspberry) or a barrel-aged cocktail, from the bourbon-heavy Rose Garland to the silver tequila-forward The Alchemist, served with artisan ice.
Alongside tasty chops and decadent entrees, J&G Steakhouse at The Phoenician offers nightly craft cocktails in the lounge. Grey Goose enthusiasts will appreciate the Lover Girl, crafted with Aperol hibiscus white wine cordial, peach, lemon and Angostura bitters, while the Woodford Reserve Phoenician Barrel Amaro Montenegro in the Easy Rider cocktail is seriously smooth.
Dazzling views of Paradise Valley are second only to the libations at Jade Bar, also famous for its authentic backlit jade onyx drink rail. Premium spirits and local, farm-fresh produce and juices are expertly mixed into sumptuous sips. Sample the Desert Flower with MG mezcal, lime and prickly pear or the Sanctuary Sour with Luxardo amaretto, Rittenhouse rye, lemon and brut rosé.
Nestled in the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale, Onyx Bar & Lounge is famous for its sophisticated small plates and stunning sandstone-inspired bar. The menu spans classic smoked cocktails (Negroni, Manhattan, old-fashioned), martinis (espresso, ginger, peach) and specialty concoctions like a tropical Pinaco Spritz or spicy Jalapeno Shortcake.
Outrider, located on the seventh floor of the Canopy by Hilton Scottsdale Old Town, boasts captivating views, roaring fire pits, jaw-dropping desert murals and, of course, fabulous cocktails. The specialty sips are a delight, but the boozy slushies are the perfect sweet pick-me-up after a sweltering day.
In addition to cheeky cocktails (Should We Be Bad, anyone?), Second Story Liquor Bar’s private whiskey tastings are led by experts and second to none. Sample some of the finest and rarest whiskeys from around the world, including 10- and 20-year-old offerings of Pappy Van Winkle, plus Stagg Jr., Eagle Rare and many more.
This new speakeasy-style lounge is located under celeb chef Scott Conant’s The Americano. Nosh on small bites like roasted bone marrow and truffle mac ’n’ cheese before ordering a round of boozy beverages. Our fave? The Friends With Benefits is a delicate elixir crafted with whiskey, bitters and sugar that is bottled and cured in beeswax.
Hotel Valley Ho’s beloved ZuZu boasts a bevy of delicious libations. Tequila aficionados will appreciate the Peach Out margarita (Corrido reposado, peach, ginger, lime) or the Oaxacan Fashion (Naran mezcal, citrus mint syrup, orange bitters). Prefer something more classic? The Haku nitro espresso martini is decadently rich, while The Paulette dirty Belvedere martini features goat cheese-stuffed olives.
