When it comes to his grooming routine, Arizona Coyotes captain Oliver Ekman-Larsson is a creature of habit. “Whatever works for me, I just try to stick with,” the Sweden-born athlete says. “It’s the same in hockey. If I use a stick, I want to have that stick. I don’t want to switch it up.” Which explains why he swears by Hugo Boss cologne and deodorant, both of which he carries in a Louis Vuitton toiletry bag and matching tote. Since he often skates sans-helmet during warmups, Ekman-Larsson is unofficially known for his hair, which he has styled by Lindsey Olson of Ryan M Scottsdale. But even after a tough game, don’t expect him to leave the arena looking less than polished. “I like to dress up, and I like to try to look good,” he says. “The people around the rink and around the organization deserve that. I feel like they appreciate me dressing up or fixing my hair or smelling good.” See him take to the ice all throughout October, when the Coyotes season officially kicks off at the Gila River Arena in Glendale.
Strong Mask The other finishing product Olson uses? The Balmain matte strong hard-hold clay. “This creates a lived-in texture that has an organic feel to create a polished look,” Olson says. $44, Ryan M Scottsdale, 15446 N. Greenway Hayden Loop, Ste. 1010, 480.361.9166
Mane Event “I was superpicky because my mom cut my hair when I was back in Sweden” he says. “[Lindsey Olson at Ryan M Scottsdale] is a really good listener. That’s probably why I like her. She knows my style, and I don’t have to say much,” he says. “She’s more of a friend than a hairdresser.” Men’s haircuts from $45, 15446 N. Greenway Hayden Loop, Ste. 1010, 480.361.9166
Locked Up After a fresh cut, stylist Lindsey Olson uses humidity-resistant Balmain texturizing salt spray to tame his hair: “You just blow-dry that in to create texture and a fuller look.” She praises the product for smelling great and leaving a matte finish that doesn’t look shiny. $42, Ryan M Scottsdale, 15446 N. Greenway Hayden Loop, Ste. 1010, 480.361.9166
