Co-hosts Ari Levin and Lynette Carrington have created The Arts Scene Podcast With Lynette and Ari, making the world of performing arts in Arizona just a little easier to navigate. Both boasting years of experience in the industry and a passion for the arts, this dynamic duo strives to engage listeners by exploring other people’s viewpoints, expanding their knowledge and discovering new works of music, plays, programs and performance venues to enjoy.
“Arizona has some immensely talented theater personnel, and it takes a lot of time, talent and passion to develop, write, direct and produce shows and special programs,” says Levin, executive director at The Madison Center for the Arts and executive producer at Jolon Productions. These talented people frequent the podcast as guest speakers, providing their professional insight into what happens behind the scenes—backstage and onstage—within the performing arts community. “Whether it’s theater, music, dance companies, or occasionally film and TV productions, we’ll never have a shortage of interviews to conduct for our podcast,” he adds.
Another goal of the podcast is to educate people about the arts and ways that they can get involved. “Ari and I want to keep talking about and promoting the arts in every way possible because they are important,” says journalist and marketing guru Carrington. “Every interview we do includes information about an organization’s efforts to educate kids, an underserved population of the community. We want people to know the arts are thriving, and there are ways for everyone to get involved.”
With insightful interviews conducted in a fun, friendly and approachable way, and a colorful look at why the arts are so important to the community, this podcast is quickly becoming the go-to for the Scottsdale art scene. In an upcoming show, Gerd Wuestemann, president and CEO of Scottsdale Arts, will join Levin and Carrington to talk about the incredible transformation taking place in and around the Civic Center and how that will impact and elevate Scottsdale Center for the Arts, its shows and programs, and SMoCA.
“Let’s face it,” says Carrington, “Scottsdale knows what’s what when it comes to performing arts, art and entertainment! And Ari and I are here for all of it.” The Arts Scene Podcast With Lynette and Ari, sponsored by the Wise Scholarship Program by The Steele Family Foundation, is available on all podcast platforms, thesteelefamilyfoundation.com
