Chrysalis hosted its 10th Annual Chrysalis Honors the Protector fundraiser against domestic abuse.

An intimate cocktail reception at sundown kicked off the evening at Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia. As keynote speaker, Executive Director of Major League Baseball Players Association Tony Clark addressed the role athletes can play in standing up against domestic abuse. A woman later shared her personal story of surviving abuse and encouraged attendees to lift their paddles and passionately bid during the live auction.

In addition to major sponsors BlueCross BlueShield of Arizona and American Airlines, Chrysalis attracted 300 community leaders, past honorees and supporters, including Ina and Murray Manaster, Libby and Dr. Joel Cohen, Priscilla and Michael Nicholas, Gene and Debbie D’Adamo, newlywed Jenny Weaver; co-chairs Karen Pratte and Sandra Tenuto; and retired MLB player Mark Teahen and his wife, Lauren.

The event drew a particularly enthusiastic crowd who was eager to collaborate as protectors and offer stronger safety and security for those in trouble. The evening ultimately raised $240,000 to continue its important work, making it a home run of an evening. -Photos by Haute Photography
