Style is a state of mind and fashion a means of expression, which is all the more important in our rapidly changing world. We check in with Scottsdale’s sustainable fashion advocate, influencer and artist Laura Madden for some words of wisdom.
The biggest change since I was last featured is... I have moved full force into pursuing my art professionally. As of August 2019, I rebranded my art as ReFashioned Art. My art, like fashion, is another means of advocacy for the merging of sustainability and style.
My big news is... I created Fashion x Art Auction Collabs in response to the racial disparity our country faces today. By joining forces with local fashion designers and brands, I am using my art to raise money and awareness for racial inequality. Thus far, I have donated to The Garment League, Black Girls Code, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Reform Alliance and Remake.
This year has taught me to... show your true colors and speak up for what you believe in.
In 2020, style is all about...personality, individuality and resourcefulness. How can you maximize and extend the life cycle of the wardrobe you already have? Get creative—restyle, rewear, repeat!
Since I was featured, my style has... become so much more bold. With the coronavirus, it’s become more apparent that nothing is promised and nothing is guaranteed—I dress a little extra every single day!
