What’s your morning ritual? Mornings are my favorite time of day! I wake up at 5am, take a long shower, make some green tea and do my hair while I sip. Once I’m done getting ready I make a nutrient-packed smoothie, pack my lunch and head out the door.
Fasting. Yes or no? I am a fan. It’s important to give your digestive system a rest nightly by keeping 12-14 hours between dinner and breakfast. To really kick it up a notch, it’s great to do a two-day juice and water fast once per year.
What’s the most important thing you do to keep yourself on track when it comes to exercising? Accountability and routine are really important to me.
What’s one thing you’ve done in the last year to change your health? I hired a strength coach. I knew how to build the (fitness) habit, but I really didn’t know how to build an exercise plan that would best suit my lifestyle and help me reach my goals.
If you’re going to have a drink, what is it and why? I go for a Tito’s vodka and soda with lime or an orange slice. It is gluten-free, light and doesn’t make my joints or head hurt the next morning.
What’s your favorite indulgence, food or otherwise? I love having a square of dark chocolate and a hot cup of tea at the end of the day to help me unwind and get ready for bed.
What three things do you do to maintain a healthy mental well-being? Daily self-care, positive affirmations and a great support system. I build self-care into my nightly routine—whether it’s a castor oil pack, some tea or watching my favorite show on Netflix. As a kid, my dad taught me to repeat positive affirmations, and it has become a big part of my nightly routine as I am drifting off to sleep.
Which fruit or veggie is the new kale, in your opinion? Celery juice
