Exciting things are on the horizon for North Scottsdale resident Marie Baker and her growing practice, DermaCrush (dermacrush.com). After opening in November 2019, the board-certified family nurse practitioner is readying for the spring debut of an even bigger and better state-of-the-art facility that will house the latest and greatest lasers and treatment tools. “Our medical, aesthetic and support staff will focus on creating a unique experience for each patient as we provide individualized treatment plans that result in incredible outcomes,” says Baker, who also acts as president and medical director. “Currently, I treat patients six days per week. These treatments are primarily injectables such as Botox and filler, with the occasional laser resurfacing treatment. I enjoy every interaction with these amazing individuals.” Baker admits even she’s a patient of her business. “I only buy the best lasers, treatments and serums that I would use on myself.” When she’s not prettying the faces of Scottsdale’s elite, she’s throwing on her Lululemon activewear and staying hydrated with an “embarrassingly large” water bottle. “My hydration consists primarily of drinking water with lemon slices in it. My goal is 3 liters a day,” says the health advocate. Collagen powder in her coffee and supplements consisting of a multivitamin, vitamin D, fish oil, turmeric, ashwagandha and glucosamine/chondroitin are also part of her daily wellness routine. “Staying in shape allows me to have more energy and mental stamina for my busy days of patient care appointments and running the business,” says Baker. Here, she shares a few more of her beauty and fitness favorites.

“When it comes to fitness, I like variety in my routine so I switch between HIIT and Pure Barre workouts. I love the HIIT training at Eat the Frog Desert Ridge, and never miss coach Durrell’s class. The Empower classes at Pure Barre Scottsdale/North Scottsdale with owner Marirose are incredibly intense yet energizing.” eatthefrogfitness.com, purebarre.com

“I use a mineral SPF, antioxidants and quality medical-grade products twice a day and exfoliate a few times per week. I enjoy the MDSkin signature HydraFacial and Diamond Glow facial. I do get Botox as a preventative treatment as well as a little filler to help with skin laxity.” mdskinlounge.com

In 2009, Dr. Bryan Gawley and his wife, Heather, opened Gawley Plastic Surgery (gawleyplasticsurgery.com), where the board-certified top doc specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the breasts, body and face. Since then, the pair have opened North Scottsdale Outpatient Surgery Center and three locations of MDSkin Lounge and MDSkin Bar (mdskinlounge.com) in Old Town, North Scottsdale and Chandler. “My decision to be a plastic surgeon was not something I always knew I wanted to do,” says Gawley. “I rotated through plastic surgery at Mayo Clinic and it was something that suited my personality. This specialty allowed me to interact with people and use anatomy to problem-solve while having the benefit of making people happy.” The success of his growing empire has also allowed him to give back. “I’m super passionate about helping other people,” he shares. “Being well-respected breast cancer reconstruction specialists, raising money for breast cancer is something both Heather and I have always actively pursued. In turn, we created our own philanthropy called Unicorn Philanthropy (unicornphilanthropy.com). We are dedicated to generating money through events such as our annual Gawley Gala, skincare product sales and additional money we give back every year through our businesses. All money raised currently goes directly toward two local nonprofits dear to us, Check for a Lump and Elevate Phoenix.” The pair will also host their inaugural Knickers Fore Knockers charity golf tournament April 30 at McDowell Mountain Golf Club. Here, Gawley reveals a few of the ways he keeps himself looking and feeling good.

“I would love to incorporate more time at US Cryotherapy into my schedule. My ideal wellness routine would involve a cryotherapy treatment, a lymphatic or chiropractic massage, and a facial treatment, combined with a healthy anti-inflammatory diet.” uscryotherapy.com

With degrees in internal medicine and nursing, Dr. Carrie Bordinko is the mastermind behind Benessair Health (benessair.com), a brand-new premium medical treatment facility focused on cellular health, longevity and overall well-being. From personal training, physical therapy and nutritional services to sleep management, regenerative joint treatment, and hyperbaric and PBM chambers, the practice offers a one-stop shop for healing yourself inside and out. “My desire is to live better, longer. I have always believed that even in crazy times and at any age, if you establish healthy habits and practices, anyone can live better longer. I’m 54 years old and, frankly, I’m in better shape on a cellular level than I was when I was 30. I find that I am able to do things I haven’t done since I was a kid. If you look online you will see videos of me doing gymnastic rings, boxing or rock climbing—all the things I want to be able to do all my life.” She also emphasizes the importance of sleep and healthy eating. “I am a big believer in cellular heath and what we feed our body feeds our cells and our soul,” she shares. “I do love food so I have to make good choices, which is easy for me since we have an in-house chef at Benessair, Chris Lenza of Bon Appétit Management Company. He keeps my macro tracking in check.” She also credits Benessair with being the best tool in her beauty arsenal. “We have a fabulous soft tissue/stretch therapist and a newer technology that is designed to stimulate and rejuvenate the skin through lightwave therapy,” she reveals. “I don’t think my skin has ever looked better.” Here, Bordinko gives us a few more of her top wellness tips.
